Fashion Fun! When Bally Meets Louis

Finnish autumn is lovely, though it may be chilly windy at times. Except fancy for the espadrilles, I am also falling in love with the loafers, since I can easily slip in and go, on shopping, work and daily trip.

My wish list is no doubt Chanel lambskin loafer, as being a shoe management assistant, I realize how important a pair of comfort shoes may seriously affect the feet and body postures. Alas I found this vintage Bally low-heeled loafer at Helsinki flea market, Made in Italy, dark burgundy lambskin, and with signature BB logos on top, 10 EUR, so there is no hesitation during the shopping. Let me take Bally home!
Louis Vuitton 100% silk bandeau with the design of illustrations of LV travel trunks is amazing. Made in Italy, dry clean only, 120 cm, with the back side the rosy hue trimmed with olive green lines and Louis Vuitton fonts, it can be both put on or tided up as a knot decoration on my 1970’s Bally quilted lambskin shoulder sac. As for my accessories today are already either beige or rose poudre, so I wear whole black to support the pastel tones: Gina Tricot tank top, Louis Vuitton cotton knitted cardigan and American Apparel high waist leggings. The Lambskin loafer and sac are from Swiss, Cardigan and scarf are French; when Bally meets Louis, it is a cozy fashionable treat.

Last but not the least, Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses are my new autumn bargain hunt from the outnet.com. Sooner or later the pair will be shown quite frequently, at art accede, fashion fun.

Special Thanks: JMH

Helsinki Design Week: Design Market September 5, 2015

September 5 2015, 11-17, at Kaapelitehdas

Helsinki Design Week starts on 3-13 of September, and is the biggest design stock sale in the Nordic countries. As tradition, taking place at Kaapelitehdas (Cable Factory), the event hosts a selection of interior products to fashion accessories from nearly 200 local design companies/studios. This year the selection is completed with the visiting designers from Estonia (since Tallinn is so called ‘Finns’ backyard’, and more and more garments are made or sewn in Estonia, this is not a surprise but a very welcome). Also Design Market in 2015 also spares the upper level of the Cable Factory, to make paper material producers to show and sell their new prints, books, posters or magazines.

This year I have no duty for any brand at Design Market, so I can just join as a freelance journalist and curious shopper for my personal interest. At the beach side corner of Factory, Japanese ceramic/clay sculpture Yasushi Koyama presents the various collections of wild lives. Combining the ivory white curating setting and baby pink polka dots paints-on-wall, the owl, the bear and the dog are smiling, the puppy is sleeping in a broken egg, and don’t forget Koyama’s signature, panda, is holding mini panda in public. This year I purchased a ceramic penguin to accompany the doggie on my make-up desk.
I visit R/H, where I have interned in 2013, for the chatting with the designer Hanna RiihelƤinen, trying some trousers (unfortunately not suitable for me), and finally purchasing R/H cotton tote bag. I also hang around at Chao & Eero Jewelry, Month of Sundays and Minna Parikka, and find RCM this independent sustainable hemp apparel brand from Turku is interesting and giving ecologically consciousness a new hope, since Nurmi, from Lahti, which is also using hemp as part of the jeans design, is taking the time out in September, 2015.
Also from Turku, Finnish kitchenware design Tonfisk is presenting Warm, the tea and coffee set, combined ceramic teacups with bracelets of laminated bent wood. Launched in 1998, Tonfisk Warm collection not just keeps sudden heat burning from the afternoon teatime, but also becomes a mini classic of Finnish everyday necessities.
Joining theses events is one of the best parts living in Helsinki. I am looking forward to Design District Market in November already.

Beauty Boom! Roses de ChloƩ Eau de Toilette

My CHLOƉ STORY is bottled up in late August, while SOKOS was on Kauneuteen Event in September (Beauty Event in Finnish), I go for Roses de ChloĆ©, 30 ml, not just because of the 20%-off coupon in hands, but also on the desire toward the rare ChloĆ© freebie collection.

The high-end designer’s brand marketing policy usually is, in Autumn, release the stock pressure of the previous season products, then push forward the new fragrance during the Christmas season in a launch of gift set. This is the way how I hoard the skincare and parfum at lower prices, at the same time welcome the lovely designed items.

Developed by perfumers Michel Almirac and MylĆØne Alran, Roses De Chloe was appearing in 2013. It is celebrating 50 years of existence of this house. Gentle and graceful, the fragrance tries to capture a walk down the Parisian rose gardens. Of the compositions, it includes fresh notes of bergamot, litchi, lemon and tarragon at the beginning, developing into essence of damask rose accompanied by magnolia, black current, apple, cedar and peach. After that, white musk and amber touches linger on my skin, but not yet too strongly delivered. The longevity is moderate, not too creamy, nor powdery; Roses de ChloĆ© subverts my original concern toward the piercing smells of roses.

Toward to the package design, on the cardboard box, the ivory convex texts ‘ROSES DE ChloĆ©’ framed within the rosy-tinted square; as to the crystal bottle, ‘ChloĆ©’ embossed on its silver-plated plank, and finally, a rather darker cotton ribbon tightened on the neck of its nozzle. The whole is as elegant and dreamy as the previous fragrance collection.

Upmost to my surprise, is this Les Parfums notebooks collection set along with the purchase the eau de toilette. With the rosy-tint, beige-hue and grassy-tone, the 7.5x12 cm hardcover notebooks present ChloĆ©, Roses de ChloĆ© and L’eau de ChloĆ© of the house. Embossed with the silhouette of each fragrance bottles on the cover, attached with the signature colours of the bookmark strings, printed ‘ChloĆ© parfum’ at every lower page corner, altogether slipped in within cardboard collector’s box with these 3 fragrances’ miniature illustrations. I have to say this ChloĆ© notebook set combines the brief history of the top sellers fragrance and the practical functionality (I am not sure if the are too perfect to write on!), is one of the best bargains (40 EUR) I have hunt in 2015.
