Accessories Accede: CHANEL Pearl Rain Logo Piercing Earrings

I am always an earring super fan. Since the earrings are comparatively affordable and not obtrusive, buying a Chanel piece, or two, is a gateway to the collection of fine items, and it is the typical interlocked ‘C’ design always catches up my attention. For no doubt Chanel collection is at least triple pricy than other designers’ brands, while considering the sophisticated craftsmanship, credible durability and value increasing through time, I go for this Chanel 2016 pearl rain logo piercing earrings for my spring treat.

Comes with Chanel black paper bag with snow white ribbon and paper Camilla floral, the 2015 new packaging performs a 6.5x6.5 cm black box with capital font of CHANEL, beautifully wrapped with white ribbon. Uplift the lid, there is a black velvet protection pouch embossed with discreet ‘CHANEL’, covering a black polyester earring stand. Made in Italy, the golden tone double C interlocked pair, on it carved a shell-surface effect, and studded with 16 raindrop-shape pearls on each logo.

Besides the packaging, the receipt holder is off-white, a mini cardboard paper folder, imprinted with Camilla floral and the font of CHANEL. One of the most pleasurable moment of shopping at Chanel, is that apart of the collection itself, the additional value, such as those lovely paper design, is already beyond the sales transaction SOP, but delivering the spirit of Chanel via the works of art.

The most important factor to consider when buying piercing earrings is the material from which earring posts are made. Piercing earrings manufactured in the U.S. tend to have posts made from nickel-free metal alloys, while Chanel earrings, either made in Italy or France, are made from hypoallergenic materials, which giving hassle-free wearing experience; furthermore, Chanel earrings will not easily stain or become discolored and can be sterilized easily.

Last but not the least, as for the shape of the face, those who have square or rectangular faces should avoid choosing earrings in boxy shapes with sharp lines as they can make the face look wider, who with round faces may choose earrings with long and elegant curves in order to offset facial width, while small/medium Chanel logo earrings are generally suitable for all face types!!

Magazine Madness: SS16 The Gentlewoman—Kirsten

Issue n13, SS 2016

It has been two-year interval for my last purchase of The Gentlewoman. In SS 2014 issue was Madame Vivienne Westwood empowering the pages. This spring, the cover woman is the 33 year-old, fresh-faced Kirsten Dunst.

Starting her breakthrough silver screen career with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise in Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, this ‘little vamp with a big future’ is now taken to the small screen in Fargo. And’s it’s paying off. Still, audiences wouldn’t forget her troubled adolescent role in Sophia Coppola’s dreamy, sensual directorial debut, The Virgin Suicides, and the screaming, often rescued redhead girlfriend of Hollywood Blockbuster Spider-Man. To me, it was Lars von Trier’s Melancholia, that the a strange and hunting feels bring out the different sides of Kirsten, or perhaps the film reflects my own grownups also at the period of time—that troubled, solitary and serene impacting the life and leading to the unknown.

In Sophia Coppola’s mind, Kirsten is a friend who ‘has a great fun side; she knows how to enjoy herself…she could bring the emotional depth of this trapped, misunderstood girl’ (Garratt, 212). Moving back and forth between New York and Los Angeles, Kirsten is now co-habiting with handsome boyish actor Garrett Hedlund, whom she met while filming Walter Salles’ On the Road. It’s casual read from Sheryl Garratt’s conversation with Kirsten Dunst, still, I realize that the interviewer shall discover more of an actress’ working experiences or sincere advices about the previous films rather advertise the unknown project or mere a term on the magazine pages.

Under Photographer Alasdair McLellan’s portraits, Kirsten Dunst wears a selection of garments from GUCCI’s pre-fall 2016 collection. Her girlish face is make-up free, her smiles are not far from the happiness of being young Marie Antoinette, and the reference is from Dunst posing for SS MIU MIU campaign. The photographer Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott cast her against type. ‘Dispensing with the winsome image built up by Kirsten’s earlier film roles, they portrayed her as a Hollywood showgirl whose stage set came complete with a stripper’s pole, a swing, Lynchain curtains and mirrors aplenty’ (307). At the MIU MIU campaign, Kirsten has gothic girly touch, but on my cover shot of the magazine, I decide to stay pinky clean, citing my own MIU MIU camera sac as the props, capturing the spring Easter feels of the gentlewoman.

Accessories Accede: What’s in My Comme des Garçons Sac?

Q&A in Helsinki, Finland

Let’s talk about Comme des Garçons sac!
I have been paying attention to the collection by Rei Kawakubo (川久保玲) for ages, especially for her polka dots design totem. Born in October 1942, Kawakubo specializes in anti-fashion, austere, and occasionally deconstructed garments. Opening her first store in 1973, She is greatly involved in graphic pattern and shop interiors, believing that all these things are inextricably linked. This width 22cm and height 16cm playful pouch with embossed polka-dots, and is made from black glossed cow leather, accompanied minimally detailed with gold designer COMMEdes GARÇONS lettering. I purchase ‘like a boy’ with full price (139 EUR, still one euro cheaper than buying at net-a-porter!) at Beam boutique in Helsinki. Leena the shop owner is super friendly and warm, so it’s always lovely to step in and find some good surprises.

Do you swap your daily essentials season by season?
That’s quite true and essential! In Finland the climate swiftly changes, so does my skin condition. I would put more shea butter hand cream in wintertime, but desire the sweeter feel in spring; or I like to wear musky Eau de parfum in the evening but prefer flowery sense during the sunny days. It is really fun to have new items to carry on, such as this time I play black and pink hues in my new Comme des garcons pochette, and seriously, it surely helps the good mood of a day.

Chanel Chance Eau Vive 2ml trial tube is my 2016 spring on-the-go fragrance.  By perfumer Oliver Polge, who blends top notes of blood grapefruit, red orange, providing citrus to middle scent of elegant jasmine and white musk. Base notes of the composition with vetiver, cedar and iris, leaving a fresh, elegant and subtle trail for daily use.

Japanese Rohto Lycée eye drop is my eye-dryness immediate remedy. With vitamin formula, no doubt a great souvenir from Osaka!

Avène Soothing Hydrating serum 5ml is one the freebies from purchasing Avène Soothing Moisture Mask set. I especially love to collect the travel size items, not just only for a good start to know the product, but also a feel of journey on the road!

Marc by Marc Jacobs flower earrings is my proud purchase in Taipei 101. Since Marc Jacobs has announced the discontinuation of his second line in 2015, with 60% of jewelry is a perfect bargain for my 4th pair to the collection.

A lunch break gift during the Brussels training, organic, black and fair trade, Belgian Oxfam 60% cocoa chocolate chip is a quick energy treat.

Cherry Blossom series is one of my favourite L’Occitane collection; its natural ingredients without using parabens, the hand cream contains shea butter to nourish my fingertips. Easy apply easy go.

Made in Korea O-check Design Graphics notebook is my new trial. I like to jot down my instant inspiration or take a quick memo at 10.5 x 14.5 notebook since it’s not too big to handle, also easily to organize. Bought at Paper Shop in Helsinki, the red checked design is simple yet lovely.
