Fashion Fun Taipei! Stella McCartney Silk-Crepe Pants SS/18 Together With Chanel Silver-Black Sling Back at 44 Military Arsenal

April 2018 in Taipei, Taiwan

It is always lovely to be at home. Finland has been upgraded to become my second one since 2013; while especially in the chilly snowy morning, the glimpse of dreaming of the subtropical island, Taiwan, where I remember mothering over a thousand smiles from the cheeks, is lingering in my head, with a bit touch of sugar sweet nostalgia.

The Spring Break in 2018, my college mate Jill took me to Forty-Four Village,四四南村, where was previously a residential area in Taipei for the 44th military arsenal of the Combined Logistics Command. Today, next to once the tallest business skyscraper, Taipei 101, it has been partially renovated as a cultural heritage, and gathering stores, restaurants, occasional arts and crafts markets.

The outfit of the day at Forty-Four Village, echoing a bit touch of blue and greenery; STELLA MCCARTNEY swan printed silk-crepe slim pants, its sky blue, deep indigo and off-white of the swan-printed matches Chanel silver-black sling back pointed shoes. According to the main decisions of the bottom, then the off-white Equipment scalloped silk top, Isabel Marant Étoile dark indigo waistcoat and Chloé sky blue denim shirt (I always make it as an grab-and-go jacket) are the easy items to mix and match together. The major hues of the day are off-white, sky/dark bluish and ink black with a bit touch of shining silver. The materials of the outfit of the day are 100% denim and 100% silk, both extremely comfortable during my stays in the humid spring season of Taiwan.

As for the accessories, Chloé ivory white acetate sunglasses are my all-time favourite, while Chanel iridescent camellia calfskin WOC and Chanel classic interlocked logo earrings becoming my recent travel must-have essentials. Perhaps they are a bit too high-end, still the casualty and elegance very much echoing the vintage environment of 44 Military Arsenal, at the same time the nostalgic touch at my state of mind.

After the photo shoot at 12:00, Jill and I dine some traditional Taiwanese cuisine at Simple Market. We share love stories, funny jokes, small talks and daily concerns, as if the time travels back to our college life--when the whole world is awaiting for us, nothing to be afraid of, only if we dare to step forward.

Top Tip: Define the colour tones of the outfit first, and the whole look will tune in elegantly harmony. Materials Matter, Hues Rule!

Tea Time: Vivienne Westwood Café in Taipei, Taiwan

April 2018 in Taipei, Taiwan

Having heard of the most avant-garde Vivienne Westwood broadened its territory to food and beverage in Taipei, Taiwan by opening a café filled with the House’s personality, as being a super tea lover, the visit is a must-pay. Located inside the flagship shop at Da’An District, the café is divided into a shooting studio and an 18th century British heritage tearoom and the designer’s love of The Wallace Collection is projected on a wall, which is entirely covered with wallpaper inspired by the museum’s interiors.

A crystal chandelier at the entrance create more of a Trompe l’oeil effect, while the Vivienne Westwood Orb, as well as her signature tartan elements are used in the tea sets and tins. The tea kettle and sugar jar with off-white porcelain printed with poppy red and olive green tartan pattern, the shallow plates with brown ‘Vivienne Westwood Café’ on the beam are for the larger portion of desserts. The biscuits and cake with Vivienne Westwood logos and design DNA display at the glass cabinet, the blueberry orb macaron is no doubt my love at the first sight, and highly recommended ‘Duchess’— made from earl grey tea dark chocolate mousse with a slim layer of carved milk chocolate globe. Unlike some food bloggers’ version with tapioca flour whipped cream flower, my Duchess is neat and smooth, while the richness melting in harmony way on my taste buds. Without ordering Uji matcha, I prefer fresh squeezed orange juice to balance the sugary taste of crunchy logo macoron and rich Duchess.
The whole luxury pampering experience expends to the boutique. Carrying both women’s and men’s collection, Anglomania and accessories, the upper floor (café) and street front merge the food and fashion together into a punk but welcoming styles. As being a super Vivienne Westwood fan since high school era, I really would like to transport the whole box of tartan tea set back to Finland, unfortunately considering the weights of my carry-on luggage and the risk of the fragile inside of the check-in luggage, I purchased 30 ml Boudoir eau de parfum and a logo square towel. The waitress and staff at café and boutique are very helpful and friendly, definitely I will revisit, and it will be about time to collect the amazing kawaii tea set next time.
