Fashion Fun LONDON! Zara Knitwear & Chanel Espadrilles At V&A Museum

September 2016 at Victoria & Albert Museum, London

London calling again! In 2005 I was travelling as solo backpacker, yet a master student with quite a limit budget, staying at campus crib with my friend at University of Reading; in 2016, I have already gained the title of Doctore, independent but not single, fly from Helsinki, enjoy holidays from work, with full of excitement and curiosity, to revisit and rediscover something further.

Victoria & Albert Museum has been on my museum list for a long while. On Friday I first dine with my British mate at Japanese restaurant Tombo, near South Kensington, afterwards we walk toward to have our art day for leisure. London in September is at very pleasant temperature, so a pair of Gina tricot Molly high-waist jeans, Nanushka 100% silk top, Paul & Joe 100% silk kimono and Zara knit cardigan, containing 41% nylon, 28% wool, 27% mohair and 4%. The materials are at cotton, silk and mohair mix and match, to create the layering style, but at some occasion even wearing silk tops are still suitable for a rather elegant museum or restaurant. As for the colour tones, black, green and beige conquer the whole look, with only a touch of Coco Chanel rouge.

Wearing this Paul & Joe 100% silk blouse, which, is one of my proudest investments. The whole piece designed based on the Tang Dynasty (ADE 618-907) fashion. It has narrow grey lines decorated with small plum flowers, quite alike a Japanese ancient painting. It is embellished with a lime green trimmed belt for wearing versatility. I shopped this flowery print chiffon 60% off the original price at Paul & Joe cleanse sale in Kaohsiung, 2006, surely, let’s call it a vintage.

For the accessories, I go for Cholé off-white acetate sunglasses, Chanel pearl logo earrings, Miu Miu Madras bag and Chanel lambskin black-beige espadrilles. Loving the Double C logo and reading the positive comments from fashion bloggers, Chanel espadrilles has been on my must-have list since 2015. Wearing two-tone Chanel espadrilles, the double-stitched straw construction offers the comfort lingering on either pebble or marble pathways, and its both upper and insock soft lambskin prevent the heel bites, and the rubber outsole is more of scratch resistant; wearing a thin layer of invisible socks is very durable enough for over 10-hour a day. The only warning of wearing any espadrilles, is that not tend to walk in the rain, for the straws and leather in between will easily get mildew.

Indeed my accessories take more of the purchase amount than apparels, since considering that for wearing, fast fashion or new-comer designer, such as Nanushka from Budapest, can offer much more suitable silhouette than luxurious brands do, nevertheless, the detailed craftsmanship of the accessories can truly display the value of the work of art, from the stud hardware to the sole of the shoes. Perhaps from the photo shoot or in the passengers’ eyes, the signatures of designer’s stamp make no appearance, but years passed, the market values will show via the auction prices. Besides the aesthetic view, investment plays a major concern that I devote more credits onto earrings or sacs than the fabrics or textiles.

Victoria & Albert Museum has a massive collection on jewelry, sculpture and outfits, and its bookstore provides the best choices of fashion and photography publication. No doubt, I will spend, approximately, 4 hours indoor. Cheers, mate!
